Martin Coote
Martin has owned Brisbane City Physiotherapy since 1999. The practice was originally established in 1990 and is the longest established practice in the Brisbane CBD.
Martin graduated from The University of Queensland in 1989 and then completed his Masters of Physiotherapy in 1998 at The University of Queensland qualifying him as an “APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.”
He has extensive experience as a Physiotherapist having worked in the UK and Canada after a stint in the public health system on the Central Coast of NSW. He has been in private practice since this time and has gained valuable sports physio experience with the Brisbane Strikers, Crushers and the Queensland Volleyball teams.
His current private practice focus is on sports and spinal rehabilitation and Orthopaedic rehabilitation. He also performs onsite ergonomic assessments for a range of business’ and government organisations.
Sandy Newton-King
Sandy graduated from the University of Queensland in 1995. She is qualified in Advanced Level Acupuncture including Western Medical Dry Needling. Her acupuncture/dry needling training involved over 200 contact hours of supervised theory and practice over 4 years in the UK with both the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
Sandy commenced her career in London where she established her own CBD based practice. Since this time she has worked in private practice at Brisbane City Physiotherapy and now has over 20 years experience in combining acupuncture/dry needling with traditional physiotherapy modalities. She treats a wide range of spinal and sporting injuries and over the years has assisted many of the CBD corporate “weekend warriors” back to full function. Over recent years she has worked with many high level crossfit athletes with her association with Crossfit King.
Sandy is trained in both mat-work and reformer pilates. She enjoys combining her hands on approach with pilates when indicated to help achieve optimal long term results with improved core stability, functional strength and flexibility.
Luen Pearce
Luen graduated from the University of Queensland in 1992 and completed her Masters of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 1998. She has also completed a Masters of Physiotherapy, majoring in Radiology and Pharmacology for Physiotherapists, from the University of Melbourne in 2014. Most recently, Luen has completed the Allied Health Professional Prescribing Training Program through the Queensland University of Technology and has been Chief Investigator on a research project investigating physiotherapy prescribing for musculoskeletal spinal pain.
Luen has broad experience working clinically both in private practice, formerly in Ipswich and Brisbane CBD, and for Queensland Health at Princess Alexandra Hospital. She specializes in musculoskeletal spinal pain and enjoys treating and assisting patients to solve complex clinical problems. She also has her Pilates Level 1 qualification.
